The Mr Tim Extravaganza Program is a high-energy Performing Arts program for primary schools. Students will gain an opportunity to experience the Performing Arts in a classroom environment through music, dance and drama. Students will learn original songs, dances and games to explore the elements of performance. Teachers can also gain an insight into using the Performing Arts in the classroom to enhance their curriculum, creative awareness, develop classroom dynamics and student confidence.
The Extravaganza Programs may culminate in a performance for the public or school body, showcasing the talents of your school.
The program caters to all classes regardless of size, experience or ability and can be tailored to suit the needs of individual schools.
Mr Tim's most well known program, the 4-5 day extravaganza program is also the most comprehensive as the students receive multiple lessons and gain a deeper understanding of the activities. Workshops will involve all aspects of performing arts with an emphasis on music, movement and drama e.g. Original songs, improvisation games, spontaneous composition, soundscapes, body percussion, choirs and the hilarious 'Wal and Shazza' miming act.
The first two days of the week will be spent guiding students through various workshop activities. As time progresses classes begin to focus on performance items in preparation for the Extravaganza concert. Mr Tim leads students through the subtleties of performance techniques from bowing to general stage etiquette. Mr Tim will provide a basic performing arts structure for students to flourish in. Within this structure the students are encouraged to take a prominent role in developing original items, as their input is essential to the creation of all performances.
The Extravaganza concert is an ideal way to celebrate special occasions during the year such as book week, end of term concerts, school anniversaries and can highlight most types of awareness days. It is also an effective means of cohesively bonding selected year groups and adds a unique flavour to an end of year performance. The talents of each student will be showcased in an original, highly polished concert hosted by Mr Tim. Students will also be responsible for the running of the show through the creation of 'Team Awesome' who will be in charge of lighting, sound and stage management.
The advantages of these programs are particularly evident for teachers, as the preparation of such an occasion can be highly exhausting and time consuming. Mr Tim's Extravaganzas require little in the way of costumes, props and administration details, as the performances revolve around the students abilities rather than elaborate stage decorations. Parents also benefit in seeing their children contributing to performance items and enjoying themselves on stage. Finally and most importantly these programs are beneficial to the students themselves. The Extravaganza programs can have a profound impact on students lives in giving them an opportunity to express themselves and experience success in the realms of the Performing Arts.
For schools wishing to have the opportunity to be accompanied by a live five-piece rock band, Mr Tim's band, The Fuzzy Elbows are available to give your performance an extra lift.
Teacher performance items are also available upon request. This will require one or two practice sessions (30mins) with the staff which will be added to the invoice.
